You’ve probably heard the phrase, “if you’re not growing, you’re dying”, and it’s true, especially when applied to your career. If you want to advance your career, earn leadership opportunities, and become an expert, you have to put in the time at work to learn and grow, and you have to do it outside of work as well. That’s why we’re big fans of career-focused podcasts.
When choosing great podcasts to recommend to you, we focused our efforts on career-focused podcasts. There are hundreds of awesome podcasts covering every topic imaginable, but we’re only talking about those that are general career podcasts. But wait! I don’t have time to listen to podcasts!
Podcasts, in general, are a great way to learn new things, because you can be a little more passive when listening to them. You can put them on while you’re doing other tasks and still learn from them. We’re all so time-poor these days. Listening to podcasts is a great way to use your time wisely. So, here’s a quick list of 5 ways to listen to podcasts when you don’t have time:
- Put them on during your commute
Skip the radio or playlists and queue up some podcasts. This is a great way to utilize the time spent commuting by improving yourself and learning new things.
- Listen to them at work
If it’s okay with your boss, and it won’t distract you from getting things done, put on podcasts during your workday.
- Workout with podcasts
This won’t work with every type of podcast, but it could be a good way to multitask. Choose something that requires a little less focused attention, but something that gets you excited.
- During downtime
Taking a bath, drinking coffee and eating breakfast, while you wait; use your downtime.
- Designate time over the weekend
As with anything these days, it won’t get done if you don’t schedule it. So why not set aside a couple of hours over the weekend to catch up on podcasts? You don’t need to listen to hundreds of them. Just pick a couple of high-quality podcasts that you enjoy and listen to them regularly.
